Dr. Georges Suha
Diplomat, professor of international relations, visiting lecturer at several universities worldwide including Sorbonne-Paris IV, Milton Friedman University Budapest, University of Pecs and ANOBS in Hong Kong. In 2019 he has been conferred upon honorary professor at University of Debrecen which is Hungary’s oldest higher education institution and one of the largest educational centers in Central Eastern Europe.
His research interests lie in the area of Africa-related interdisciplinary social sciences, ranging from development studies to multilateral relations and diplomacy of sub-Saharan African countries. He is full member of the public body of Hungarian Academy of Sciences, founding member of its Subcommitte for African Studies. He has collaborated actively with researchers in several other disciplines of political sciences, particularly theory and practice of democracy and challenges of regional cooperation in African context.
As a career member of the foreign service of Hungary he served for four years as ministerial commissioner at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade. In 2017 he has been designated as non-resident ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary to Congo RD, Mali, Cameroon, Chad, Niger and RCA.
Prior to this diplomatic position he served as foreign affairs advisor at the Hungarian National Assembly, from 2005 to 2011 he was the Gambian permanent representative to UNIDO and CTBTO in Vienna. His other previous assignments include the career consular representation in Bulgaria, Romania, Slovenia, Kosovo, Belarus, honorary consul general position in Hungary and political attaché in charge of bilateral relations with Romania at the Gambian Embassy in Paris.
From 2007-2014 he was the vice-president for diplomatic relations of FUECH (Federation des Unions Européennes des Consuls Honoraires in Bruxelles).
Representing the government, Ambassador Suha supervised the Hungarian police and military contingents at UNTAC, UNAVEM and MINURSO UN peacekeeping missions.
He is full Member of the Governing Council of the Hungarian Association of United Nations (WFUNA-H) and Special Envoy of the Order of Saint Gabriel, Lyon, France.
Ambassador Suha has received a number of honors and awards, including Gold Medal for Professional Consular Activity by World Federation of Consuls and Grand Cross Medal of Honor by the Order of Malta.
